From 1835 the seat of the savings bank was located in the town hall.
A hundred years later, the institute was able to move into an annex.
"To encourage order and thrift, to give opportunity for safe and interest-bearing housing of small savings, and thereby to assist in collecting a small capital to be used on marriage, in establishing or expanding a trade, in old age, or in case of need a savings bank has been set up for the city of Aschersleben and the surrounding area, for whose deposits the entire city assets are liable."
