On the Augustapromenade near the Bestehornhaus, the "Turm am Marsfeld" stands to the east of the Aschersleber town fortifications. This approximately 26 meter high building with its approximately 1.50 meters thick walls and the stone helmet was built in 1443. The tower has a square plan and a platform with a battlement, which rises almost 20 meters above the ground. Beyond the city wall once extended the field of Mars - a large open area, which u.a. was used for military exercises. Today only a comparatively small part of the former Mars Field is known and known under the name "Herrenbreite". As part of a city tour you can also get to know the inside of the tower on the Campus Martius.

The tower at Marsfelde was built between 1432 and 1465 and is 26.5 meters high.
It rests on a barrel vault that once served as a dungeon.
In front of the gate was the Marsfeld (today Herrenbreite) in what was then an open area.(Source: Wikipedia)
