This fountain was named after the canonized Margaret of Antioch,
Daughter of a pagan priest in Syria, who was converted to Christianity by her nurse and was tortured at her father's instigation to renounce her new faith...
There are 3 other legends about this saint that can be found on Google
and who also establish the dragon in sculpture...
Unfortunately this fountain figure was stolen years ago and replaced with a copy in 2007.
The fountain stands on the forecourt of the M A R G A R E T H E N K I R C H E.
This was built in 1100, cremated by fire in 1410 and only rebuilt in 1586.(Source: myheimat.de)
