One of the most important sights of the city is the medieval city wall. It represents one of the best preserved city walls in Germany. The defense structure can be easily explored on a circular route around the old town along the wall. The city wall is on average eight meters high and around one meter thick. It has a length of about 2.3 kilometers. 15 of the former 51 defense towers have been preserved to this day.

This tower of the Aschersleber city wall bears the name "Schmaler Heinrich" and stands between the market place and the Johannistorturm. It was built in 1442 in Gothic style, is about 32 meters high and has a fairly small square base with a side of only about 6 meters. The slate-covered helmet has a height of about 10 meters and has four small corner turrets. A crane sits at the top of the tower as a symbol of vigilance. In the picture you look from the Tie to the Narrow Heinrich. The tower is also visible from the Johannispromenade. The late medieval building can be entered as part of a city tour.
