Gothic house with a neo-Gothic face
Since 1837, Greifswald residents have been able to buy books in their council and library bookstore. The neo-Gothic façade belies the fact that the building is originally Gothic: during a comprehensive renovation in 1995, it was discovered that the roof structure was made of oak wood that had already been felled in 1307. The neo-Gothic plaster facade, designed in 1864 with decorative painting, unfortunately reveals problems that require fundamental restoration to prevent more plaster from crumbling from the facade. Help the German Foundation for Monument Protection to preserve the valuable community center!
