Puerto Madero

In the 1990s, with the help of domestic and foreign investors, the old department stores of the former harbor district were converted into lofts, offices, private colleges, hotels and restaurants. In 2008, the Museum Fortabat was opened in a new building on the northern harbor basin. The redesign has been carried out by internationally renowned architects, including Santiago Calatrava, Norman Foster, César Pelli and Phillippe Starck. Since then, Puerto Madero has become one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires and is a magnet for young and old alike.
