Just a short morning on site. First it rains the whole morning and when the rain stops it is time to go out and at least get a little impression. Worth seeing city with diverse impressions. I would have liked to have had more time. 😊

First tour of this Malle stay. A super nice round on the Alcudia Peninsula. Scree, rocky and sometimes craggy with grandiose views. Super nice corner for hiking. With the Talaia d‘Alcudia THE summit of the peninsula 🐐🐐🐐, the ascent over the south ridge is the least frequented and certainly the most demanding route. We already knew the summit, we made the detour to Penya des Migida for the first time and found it absolutely worthwhile. After the sweaty hike, the Clara sin Alcohol in the Mirador de la Victoria restaurant came in handy. And for a change, the altitude meters are also realistic. 😊

My first time in Lyon. So let's go for a walk through the city. As is so often the case, the altitude difference was clearly exaggerated, but there were two hills. From the hotel (grandiose building, the Radisson Blu resides on the upper floors) over the Rhône and Saône and then uphill to the amphitheater. In between, a delicious tarte du pomme chirped into the figure. After the amphitheater to the Notre Dame de Fourviére basilica and then over the Passerelle des Quatre Vents bridge and the stairs at France Aventures Lyon (high ropes course and Co.) downhill again to the banks of the Saône. Cross this again, walk diagonally through the maze of streets, taking the second hill with you and after crossing the Rhône through the Parc de la Tête d‘Or to the Botanical Garden. Here out of the park and along the streets lined with restaurants and bars towards the shopping center. Past the hotel in search of something to eat, plunged into a supermarket, back to the room and off to bed. Alarm clock at 4 a.m. tomorrow. Good night. 😴💤

If a supervisor I did not know starts a call to go hiking together and you walk up the Wendelstein with a small pack of colleagues who were previously unknown to me, it can be quite fun. Unusual for me to put the planning and organization of the tour in different hands and just lag behind. But also sometimes nice. Started in thick fog, gray on gray. Above, a clear blue sky and a magnificent view of rocky peaks and the sea of clouds.

The first weekend in October shines with dream weather. So get into your hiking boots. Parked at the canyoning Burggrabenklamm parking lot (€ 4 / day) and then scrambled up the Valerieweg along the Burggrabenklamm. At the junction, turn right onto Ackerweg and continue to Unterackeralm. Do not continue straight on here, but turn left onto the Gretlsteig towards Klausbach. Crossed the Klausbach at the ford, ignored the junction to the Valerieweg and onto the beautiful plain of the Moosalm. Over this level we went in constant e-bike traffic to the Schwarzensee, which we circled clockwise. We didn't know him yet and were a little disappointed. Very nice lake, but our first half of the circumnavigation was an asphalt road that does not run along the lake shore. It ends in a (today) overcrowded parking lot, which also explains the crowds around the lake. We refrained from stopping at the two lakeside landlords “Zur Lore” and “Alm-Stadl”. A free table wasn't in sight anyway. So the circumnavigation of the lake is completed - on the host's side, after all, a gravel path and now and then along the lake. Then again towards the level and there, at the mini-inn Gschwandtner Alm, sprinkled with buttermilk, cake and apple juice. Good decision. 😊 From there again over the area of the Moosalm through herds of cows and horses and over the Valerieweg back through the gorge and to the parking lot. The tour is almost flat except for the piece through the gorge and the altitude meters should have been around 500 m.

My very first time in Seattle, so first discover the city instead of putting on hiking boots and out into nature. The altitude meters are once again more than unrealistic. It started along the monorail to the Space Needle and from there down to the water. Along this over the Olympic Sculpture Park to the Great Wheel. Then upstairs to Pike Place Market - try great Oyster Crab Chowder. Through 1st Avenue to the "old town" Pioneer Square and Occidental Square. On to Chinatown, here a little dangling is missing on the track. And finally back towards the hotel comfortably via 4th Avenue. A great diverse city with a lot to discover. I haven't finished discovering and I'm looking forward to being here for another two days in four weeks. Nonetheless, Seattle is also one of the US metropolises where the normality of regular society and massive homelessness coexist is heartbreaking.

Yesterday it was the ninth and for us this week the last stage of the SalzAlpenSteig. Since the day before yesterday we climbed back up to our hotel from Ramsau, we were able to save ourselves this ascent and relaxed a kilometer downhill to the brine pipeline path, on which we then hiked the first kilometers on the slope through forest and meadows and had grandiose views in enjoyed the mountains. On the way you walk through the beer garden of the Gasthof Gerstreit and stroll around the Gasthof Söldenköpfl. After the latter, it goes through the forest on a forest road downhill to Engedey on the Ramsauer Straße. This main road is crossed and then it goes through the small industrial area Duft (you walk across a company towards the edge of the forest) and then steadily uphill. At the Hammerstiel parking lot, the original SalzAlpenSteig trail came to an end for us yesterday. The ascent to the Grünstein or to the Grünsteinhütte is possible, but the descent towards Königssee is currently closed due to storm damage. According to information from the tourist information office in Ramsau, the damage is considerable and the repair will take time. So we went downhill again and hiked around the Grünstein to the Königssee. That was a good solution for yesterday and it was great to arrive at the lake, but I don't yet know how to proceed with the further stages. Actually, I wanted to hike on the SalzAlpenSteig bit by bit in October, but the next three stages are also affected by storm damage and partial closures, which is a little scratching my motivation. Let's see how I decide. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Next round of SalzAlpenSteig. In Bischofswiesen this morning the Watzmann showed itself in all its glory under a clear blue sky. Then we started back the 3 km along the main road - stupid route, but today we noticed the grandiose view of the sleeping witch. A consolation. 😊 Another 1.5 km and the stage change point was reached again. From there it went for 4.5 km over wide gravel roads, sometimes more and less steeply uphill through the forest. Followed by a very short, somewhat craggy piece interspersed with rock, which becomes a gravel road again and you have already reached the highest point of the stage with the Mordaualm at 1200 m. As unspectacular as the way up here was, the view of Hochkalter and Watzmann from the Alm is just as spectacular. After a relaxed snack, we make our way downhill - again over wide gravel roads. After a good 3 km you come to the alpine road and shortly before you turn left onto a gravel path that leads along the slope, through forest and over meadows to the Wirt Zipfhäusl. The gorge path leads downhill to Ramsau directly behind the inn. A historical path over wooden steps and bridges, always along the water and clearly the most beautiful section of today's tour. Down in Ramsau along the main street for tour information and pick up the daily stamp. After 18.6 km we have actually reached the end of today's stage. Today's hotel is above the Gausthaus Zipfhäusl, so we scramble back up the gorge path a bit puffed up. After all, we'll save ourselves the ascent tomorrow morning. 😉 In terms of the paths, today's stage was largely unspectacular, but there were various grandiose views to marvel at.

Through the spa garden and past the old saltworks (I tied a knot in my ear that I had to visit it) we went out of Bad Reichenhall again this morning. We hiked a good bit uphill over a narrow forest path, which later becomes a forest path - including a little happiness on the summit after 4.7 km on the Wappbachkopf. Then through the forest downhill again, over the Wappbach to the hiking car park in Bayerisch Gmain. From there it went a good bit along the tracks, twice over them and as far as possible you walked through the forest. Wide paths and trails alternate. After another hiking car park (sleeping witch car park), it goes uphill one last time. The rest of the way is a beautiful narrow path through forest and meadows, until the stage transition to the next stage towards Mordaualm (approx. At km 14) comes. Continue to Reichenhaller Straße and the last 3 km of the route to Bischofswiesen lead exclusively along this busy main road between Berchtesgaden and Bad Reichenhall. That is really not nice and clearly deducts points on this otherwise beautiful stage. Especially since we have to go back this part of the way tomorrow. 🤷‍♀️ Oh yes, the altitude difference is exaggerated again. It should have been a good 500.
