Düsseldorf Airport is still in a silent sleeping beauty; only at large intervals a start or a landing. The chosen route runs clockwise over a large area north of the airport and takes you back to the city of Düsseldorf on completely hidden green paths. I drove many of them for the first time and was surprised myself to find out where in some places.Incidentally, the black helicopter is not at the airport, but in front of a remote center for favors (= puff).

The large-scale nature reserve "Himmelgeister Rheinbogen" is just as attractive as the Urdenbacher Kämpe to the south of it, but by far not as frequented. Sometimes you walk very close to the Rhine, then again through floodplain fields and meadows with huge poplars, which are currently fluffy. The Mickeln Castle alone is worth a visit with its beautiful palace park around it.For the final stop, the inconspicuous "Café et ... (Vin)" in the nearby address Steinkaul 21 is highly recommended (see highlights). The Krevet country inn, also located there, with a beer garden behind it is of course also a very nice place to stop for a bite to eat.

I could not have imagined a more beautiful Father's Day: by car to Wuppertal-Wichlinghausen and entering the Nordbahntrasse very slightly up to the "summit tunnel" and Schee train station. From there it continues slightly downhill to Hattingen in the picturesque old town with many historic half-timbered houses. The whole route after a leisurely visit to the ice cream parlor then back with a stop in an idyllic beer garden (see photos). And all this in summer temperatures and partly. somewhat dusty cycle track (coal track). All information:

Actually I had planned this "exploration tour" around the airport this evening: komoot.de/tour/180784768But on the northern edge of Düsseldorf Airport I totally lost my way between construction sites and bridle paths and quickly broke off completely dusty. Delayed is not canceled and I am looking forward to the second attempt. The airport still looks completely sleepy: Many planes are parked in turn ... and one has actually started (where to?).

The city of Düsseldorf has put together 10 very nice bike tours with different lengths:
duesseldorf.de/radschlag/fahrradtouren/tour-d.htmlThe round tour D10 is the longest of it with around 80 km and goes through many beautiful green sections. In a lot of places I spontaneously thought: "Man, - I've never been here!" or also: "Oh, you can get out of here now!" In any case, this entire big tour around Düsseldorf is very nicely managed! The best way to cycle is to use the originally planned route without a detour (from GPS import from the above page):

Zu Fuß, mit dem Fahrrad oder Speed-eBike (S-Pedelec) bin ich gerne und viel draußen unterwegs und habe Spaß daran neue Routen und Wege zu erkunden, mit denen ich auch andere inspirieren kann.
