In the morning we set off for Givet to use a short time slot before the rainy part of the day started.

Givet is at the tip of a French strip around the Maas that extends deep into Belgian territory. The mighty Fort de Charlemont, built as early as 1555, and the remains of a huge fortified military camp

Today, before the thunderstorm set in, we did a small but very nice tour on the Lesse, with exciting views and a very steep descent.

Our Ostbelgien & Ardennes collection has grown in the last few days:

Today we were at the Semois, a popular destination in the Belgian Ardennes. At a summer temperature of 29°C, we were able to explore the great river, with wonderfully weedy and white-flowering areas. For the four-legged friends there was access to smaller streams and also to the Semois, which were used to cool down.

In the sunshine we were able to enjoy a very varied tour in the Belgian Ardennes around Fondry des Chiens, traveling long distances all by ourselves. There was also plenty for the four-legged friends to run around in with streams, meadows and sandy areas.

Very close to our hiking area tomorrow, we did a small, relaxed evening tour on the Le Viroin stream.

Dinant, a small Belgian town in the Ardennes, picturesquely situated on a rock massif and birthplace of Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone, has been on our visit list for a long time. Today, with some light drizzle, the time had come. A lovely little town!

The Semois flows into the Maas near Monthermé in the French Ardennes. With ideal hiking weather, we were able to enjoy a very nice tour with wonderful panoramic views of the Meuse and great rock formations (lots of slate!).

Today we arrived at our holiday home on the Belgian-French border and went on a small evening tour near Fumay on the Maas in the French Ardennes.

With ideal hiking weather we were out and about in the Kalltal. A great tour, very little frequented despite Saturday. Several bridges over the Kall were destroyed during the last flood and have not been renewed since then. We used this for two crossings. That was pleasant, like a Kneipp cure in knee

The area around the Anton-Raky-Weiher has become very beautiful as a result of the development measures in recent years. Even today, on Easter Monday, the "insider tip" character is evident, the route was only cautiously visited by cyclists and hikers.
