The cityscape of Koenigsberg (Chojna) had a distinctive character of high cultural and historical value. Before it was almost completely destroyed in 1945, it was characterized by medieval buildings such as the city wall, the two magnificent gate towers of the Schwedter and Bernickower gates, the late Gothic town hall with its richly decorated gables, the former Augustinian monastery and the imposing Marienkirche. Significant parts of the city wall, including the two gate towers and some Wiekhäuser, have been preserved to this day.

Chojna (Königsberg/Nm.) was surrounded by a city wall from the 13th to 17th centuries. Today, about 50% of the wall and two of the gate towers are still preserved.

Formerly the Wierradska Gate. Only a pinnacle remains of the gate

A fragment of the preserved defensive walls of Chojna. The Czworokolna Gate was located here. It guarded the entrance from Pyrzyce and Szczecin. It was probably built at the beginning of the 14th century, but around 1430 it was dismantled and a new one was built in its place. The Czworokolna Gate is the only gate of Chojna that has not survived to this day. After its dismantling, the end of the wall was secured with a brick, decorative pillar.
