    Hiking

The Friesenbach spring above Kasendorf, with a normal flow rate of 400 liters per second, is one of the strongest springs in Northern Bavaria. The volume of water flowing from the spring can be explained by the fact that extensive, branching underground watercourses collect precipitation from a large catchment area encompassing the districts of Reuth, Azendorf, and Welschenkahl, and bring it to the surface here.

    Hiking

The Friesenquelle is one of the stronger karst springs with a considerable reliable discharge of 400 L / sec (compare this with Stempfermühlquelle in Wiesenttal with 600 L / sec = the strongest spring in Franconian Switzerland).
That's about 150 bathtub fillings in one minute! When looking at the quiet spring pot hardly imaginable, you can only see the current when it runs off.
I think that in the past this spring ensured the water supply for the tower hill and Reuth on the heights and made settlement possible in the first place.

    Mountain biking

The Friesenquelle is about 500 m after leaving the village in the direction of Bamberg on the state road. Several mills located below the Friesenquelle on the Friesenbach owe their existence to the massive discharge of this spring (400 liters per second). Nice place with seating.
