    Hiking

Several information panels refer to the excavations of the burial mounds in the 1930s, in which Kulmbach's chief school inspector, Max Hundt, played a key role. Because the public was very interested in the excavations at the time, he, together with Hans Edelmann, Karl Jahreiß, and Oskar Kaufmann, initiated the nature trail, which they named after the Kulmbach businessman Fritz Hornschuch. He had covered the costs and thus prevented the National Socialists from influencing the excavations.

Impressive complex of 78 burial mounds from the Hallstatt period. Interesting information boards (especially about the beer consumption that already existed back then!)

New information boards, very well presented.
