The half-timbered houses of Eguisheim are one of the most characteristic and beloved elements of the village. They date mostly from the 16th to the 18th century and are built in the typical Alsatian style, with a wooden frame structure filled with clay, brick or plaster. This construction technique was not only economical and flexible, but also resistant to earthquakes, which occasionally occurred in the region

Eguisheim is certainly one of the most attractive villages in Alsace, as everything here has been so authentically preserved in a small space and can be experienced by tourists. Of course at the price that it can get very crowded in the narrow streets. You should therefore plan the time of your visit very carefully!
The chapel for the Alsatian Pope is curious! Otherwise you should visit the many small shops and eat/drink well.
