The building of the Electorate of Mainz Lieutenancy was erected as a baroque palace from 1711-1720 according to plans by the master builder Maximilian von Welsch. The fate of the city and the country have been decided in this house for a long time. In October 1808, for example, a meeting between Goethe and Napoleon took place here. Since 1995 the building has housed the Thuringian State Chancellery with the seat of the Thuringian Prime Minister.

In the context of various political events, be it the Konrad Adenauer Foundation or the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, one also has the opportunity to visit the building and its architecture from the inside for these podium discussions.

The Thuringian State Chancellery is the government headquarters of the Free State of Thuringia. It is based at Government Street 73 in the building of the Kurmainzische Stadthalterei am Hirschgarten in the old town of the state capital of Erfurt. The head of the State Chancellery has also been Thuringia's Minister for Culture, Federal and European Affairs since December 2014. (Wikipedia)
