the route slightly modified from the start and finish point
Tour from # Märchenbrunnen to #Hanfried via #Fuchsturm, #Kernberge, # Wöllmisse via the upper #Horizontale and back through #Saaletal
Start at the Märchenbrunnen, then past the employment office via Dietrichweg and the Burgweg to ZiegenhainerStr to the OttoEngauStr junction (3), then follow the road to (4), from there it goes on a field or garden path between gardens up to the upper part of the Burgweg ( 6)
You could also shorten it and follow the Burgweg directly between (2) and (6) ....
But from the upper part of the OEngauStr you have good views of the Saale valley and over to the Kernberg.
At (7) you come to the restaurant “# Wilhelmshöhe”. We leave it on the right and follow the north ascent steplessly through the beech forest up to the local mountain. At (8) the path is very narrow and secured by a railing on the valley side. At (8) you will find a small staircase on the mountain side that leads up to the desert # Königpfalz #Kirchberg.
At (9) you have arrived at the Fuchsturm. If you are lucky, the old keep is open and you can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the landscape after many steps.
The excursion restaurant “Fuchsturm” offers home-style cuisine and in summer you can sit in the beer garden with a fantastic view of the Ziegenhain valley.
Continue to (10), the excavated ruins of the #Windberg castle.
At (11) leave the road to the right and take a forest path to the lookout point (12). Here you can enjoy the landscape and the view down to Ziegenhain and down to Jena on two benches. At (14) we hit the road again. There is a tent at (16). They roast here on weekends. Anyone who is not from the area has the opportunity to try an original Thuringian bratwurst here. You can also get waffles and non-alcoholic drinks here ...
The stone cross is at (17).
After a short path with roots through the forest, you go out of the forest at (18) and from there over a violent farm road to (21).
From there it gets tight.
Over the upper horizontal line past the lookout point (22), further to Dietrichstein (23), to the AP on the blue lattice mast (24), further to (25), here you could descend to the middle horizontal line and to the AP copper plate.
If we stay at the top, go to the AP (26) on the Rabensberg. This vantage point is directly above the rocks and the #Studentenrutsche. Not for people with a fear of heights ...
Then go to AP ErnstHaeckelBank (27). Then there is an AP with a bank at (28). Between (28 and (30)) the path is quite rooted, probably not recommended for normal city bikes….
At AP (31) there is a stone bench a little below (about 1.5m) the “fireplace”.
Then it continues on narrow paths and through tight curves to (33). Those who have mastered their mountain bike safely can take a shortcut down to # Fürstenbrunnen (39) via many tight zigzag curves. Hikers can of course also go down here.
If you want to be a little less sporty, take the detour via (37). The path is probably not for beginners either, as several steps should make the ascent easier. In rainy weather, the ground is sometimes quite slippery due to the many leaves in the beech forest.
At point (39) you can turn right to come down to Wöllnitz on a wide, violent path.
Go on! Up to (41). From there it becomes flatter again ...
Past the #Sommerlinde (42) to the AP #Johannesberg (44).
Here there are several benches on the edge of the rock and deep down is the Saale valley with the districts of Göschwitz, Winzerla, Burgau and Lobeda.
At (46) we reach the AP Spitzberg.
At (48) there would be an abbreviation to #Lobdeburg (52). ATTENTION, the path is steep, narrow and has several high steps!
The path to AP Ferdinandsberg (49) is very narrow, as is the middle horizontal between (50) and (52). From Lobdeburg you could go straight down to Drackendorf, for example to the country restaurant “am Goethepark”. Or you can make a little detour via the “short reason” (55).
Once in Drakendorf, you shouldn't miss the #Goethepark (58) with its mighty old trees.
Above the clinic you go through the old town of Lobeda to #Peterskirche (59).
After crossing the “Schnellstraße” with traffic lights, go over the old # Saalebrücke (60) to the beer garden “am Wehr”. Then past the church of Burgau with the old cemetery (63).
Then through the Oberaue with the many sports fields to the garden bar “SALÜ” (66) and from there to the destination, the market….
have fun testing the route or parts of it
