Captain Blaubär is a character by Walter Moers who depicts a human-like bear. He became known through the puppet series Käpt’n Blaubärs Seemannsgarn in the show with the mouse. Captain Blaubär lives with the rat Hein Blöd and his grandchildren, the bears yellow, green and pink, in the stranded fishing cutter Elvira, which is located on a cliff near the fictional town of Rumsrüttelkoog. The penguin Amundsen also appeared in some of the older episodes.
The main purpose of Captain Blaubär's life is to tell his grandchildren Seemannsgarn about his numerous voyages by ship. While the framework plot is presented as a puppet show, the sailor's thread is presented in the form of cartoons as a flashback. At the end of a story, after the obligatory protest of the three grandchildren that everything was a lie, powerful evidence of the truth of a story often emerges. Every TV show with Captain Bluebear is structured in a similar way.
Captain Blaubär (speaker: Wolfgang Völz) is a bear with dark blue fur. He is an old, apparently retired captain and likes to tell stories from his life as a seafarer, which, however, are viewed by his grandchildren as a sailor's thread, even if at the end of the stories he usually provides proof of their accuracy. He is easy-going and humorous and takes loving care of his grandchildren.
Hein Blöd (Edgar Hoppe) is a rat with yellow-orange fur and an ordinary seaman. According to his name, he is mostly noticed by his naive, stupid, clumsy manner, which sometimes annoys the captain very much, which is why he often attacks him with swear words like "Hein, du Dösbaddel". Nevertheless, he is a loyal assistant to the captain, the two of them basically get on well and are friends.

In their boat on the broad river of the Gera sit Captain Bluebear looking through a telescope and Hein Blöd rowing. At the end of July 2019, the character Hein Blöds was beheaded by unknown persons. The rest of the figure, including Captain Bluebear and the barge, were then removed to prevent children from seeing them.[6] In November 2019, the figure was put back in the same place with a new headSource: Wikipedia
