Aachen's City Park covers approximately 200,000 square meters and forms a spacious green space in the heart of the city. Its origins date back to 1853. With the construction of new spa facilities between 1914 and 1916, the park underwent a fundamental transformation to better meet the needs of spa guests and strengthen Aachen's role as a spa and bathing resort. Due to its significance for gardens and cultural history, the City Park and its grounds were listed as a historic garden monument in 1995.

The Aachener Stadtgarten Aachen is a landscape park with considerable differences in height. The highest point is the Wingertsberg (193 m above NHN). Its beginnings lie in the hospital garden laid out in 1852, which was expanded and redesigned as a spa park from 1916. In 1925 the northern extension with Farwick Park was added. The former Güldenplan Evangelical Cemetery was also carefully integrated from 1945. Overall, the Stadtgarten has a total area of around 2.3 hectares.

The listed city garden was created in 1852 under the direction of Peter Joseph Lenné, the royal landscape gardener.
