About Bernd

This hike does not require surefootedness etc. and can also be done with children. Bringing dogs is not prohibited. It is an entertaining route that consists mostly of nature trails and paths. The diversity of the landscape means that the hike is never boring. Amazingly, we only met very few hikers in the area of the Dreiborn plateau. If you are looking for peace and seclusion, you should start this hike around 10 a.m. in the morning. Those who love nature trails and nature trails will certainly not be disappointed with this hike. Finally, it should be emphasized that the hike can be extended at any time due to the excellent signposting.
      Have fun hiking in nature!

This hike starts at Botrange and offers a unique and wonderful view of the Walloon Fens. In the further course we first pass the Venn landscape near Sourbrodt on nature trails and forest paths along the Rur. Then it goes over forest paths to Schwarzbachsee. After we have reached Küchelscheid, we rest at the tavern A'Lütze and a cool Leffe. Our hike ends in Kalterherberg, Am Eifeldom, i.e. the parish church of St. Lambertus.
      Conclusion:
An entertaining, day-long hike that offers many photo perspectives. Surefootedness is not required here, only clothing and shoes suitable for hiking.

This hike was done for historical-literary reasons and was not aimed at exploring wonderful nature trails and landscapes. The Hürtgenwald was a terrible battle area in World War II in which tens of thousands of soldiers were killed. The Hürtgenwald was also known as the "forest in which the dragons live." or as "the forest that has drunk so much human blood." designated. You can still find human bones in this terrible area today. This area, where so many soldiers endured suffering and pain, I wanted to visit this area in memory of the fallen and their families.
In the further course of the day we went to the military cemetery in Hürtgen by car. Unfortunately, despite the interruption, the Komoot app combined both sections into one hike. In this respect, the specified distance-time calculation is of course incorrect.
      Conclusion:
If you visit these locations for historical reasons, this is the place for you. Anyone who hopes for a beautiful hiking trail from the Ochsenkopfweg, for example, will be disappointed.

The circular hike begins at the Kalterherberg car park (Bahnhofstrasse) and leads along individual crossroads, each of which tells its own story. The hiking trail leads over paved dirt roads as well as through narrow, natural hiking trails. This varied hike is never boring. The respective crosses frequented, with the exception of the route, are based on a hiking brochure from the Eifelverein Kalterherberg.

This short and easy circular hike is suitable for families but not barrier-free. The highlight is the Talbach waterfall with the via ferrata.
      Conclusion:
If you don't want to hike too far and don't expect great panoramas, this hike (walk) is spot on.

We went up to the Penkenjoch with the Penkenbahn. Our hike to the Wanglspitze began here. The last third of the wide access path turns into a narrow nature path, steeply rising and with changing fantastic views. Well worth the effort of the climb; At the summit cross you will be rewarded again with a fantastic panoramic view of the Alps. The summit cross also exudes its special charm in sunny weather. Would you like a rest? Here is the best place. On the way back you shouldn't miss out on a visit to the small and modern garnet chapel. Small, special construction and beautiful, that is my opinion about the chapel. Finally, we returned to the Penkentenne. Good food, friendly service and normal prices. What more do you want!
Conclusion: The hike offers many beautiful panoramas. The highlight is of course the summit cross. We loved the hike. Of course, this also depends on the weather.
      Have fun hiking!

A strenuous, but also very beautiful and varied hiking route. Surefootedness, a head for heights and good weather are required. If these three factors apply, the hike will be a delight.
      PROMISED!!!

The ascent to the waterfalls is exhausting. But there are always super beautiful views.
Halfway along the way, you can stop at an alpine pasture and rest.
When you have reached the top, you should definitely continue the hike to the Hölzlahneralm snack station. You will be rewarded with a very beautiful landscape and good food on the alpine pastures.
      Conclusion:
Start from the parking lot at around 10 a.m.
Around noon or at the latest in the early afternoon, entire hosts make the pilgrimage up the waterfalls.
A varied tour that was fun.

A very nice, entertaining hike, some of which also leads over nature trails. The Wolfsklammsteig is a really impressive highlight.

An entertaining hike with always new wonderful views and colors. A branch to the Kreuzjoch summit cross needs to be carefully considered. Black hiking route! Unfortunately, we had to bypass this section.
I would do this hike a second time.
