About Irma Wacker

      A walk in Mönchengladbach.
From the Hermann-Piecq-Anlage, on the advanced construction of the bridge on the Viersener Straße, to the Galgenberg. Executions were carried out here in the Middle Ages, and even the Emperor Karl V was amazed at the Viersen people's keen sense of justice.
We continued to the small village of Helenabrunn through the cemetery and past the St. Helena church from the 17th century.
The way continued to a hill called Schallersbusch, whether it was also created from the rubble?
The way back went over the motorway bridge to the colorful garden with blossoming trees and meadows.

A walk in Mönchengladbach, around the district of Windberg.
From the Hermann Piecq facility, where the bridge on Viersener Strasse is being renewed, along Lindenstrasse to the railway line. Continue along the railway line under several bridges to Spielkaulenberg. From there over the colorful garden with the blooming landscape back to the Hermann Piecq plant.

      A walk in Mönchengladbach.
From the Hermann Piecq facility, where the bridge on Viersener Strasse is being renewed. The old, defective bridge was torn down within 4 days, the broken parts sorted and transported away. The executing company began to lay the steel girders at high speed and with heavy equipment, the delivery of which was secured with the special transporter.
We continued to the district of Dahl, where a new headquarters for SMS Group is being built in the form of a gearwheel. Opposite is a Herzog waste disposal company, this company carried out the demolition work on the SMS site.
From there we went back to the former building of the Maria Hilf Hospital, high-quality apartments will soon be built here.

      A walk in Neuss.
Along the donkey path that "transports" the stream of people to Lake Reuschenberg, which is a paradise for people and animals.
Continue to Holzheimer Heide, here additional electricity pylons will be erected for the supply of energy.
The further path led to the river Erft, which is partially fed with the pumped out groundwater from the Grevenbroich open-cast mine. Lignite is mined here, which is used to generate electricity in the power plants. Along the Erft to the Rhine.
The Erft flows gently and stylishly into the Rhine. Which is the one stream of life on which the ships bring the necessary goods to the place.
On the path that ran parallel to the Rhine, we continued to the further water flow. The Obereft, a tributary of the Erft, offers a habitat for many animals and birds. It went on to
Selikumer biotope, which is fed by the Obererft and has become a paradise for wild geese and ducks. The birds have made their home here and feel very comfortable.

NSG Helpensteiner Bachtal is located in the district of Heinsberg. The Helpensteiner Bach flows through the northern part of the nature reserve between Wildenrath and Dalheim-Rödgen. On its banks there is a damp alder forest that looks like a primeval forest.
The tour began at the Haus Waldenrath nature reserve, the former manor. The way went on the forest paths through the nature park, Birgel forest and moor landscape to a lake that was created from the extraction of the sand. The further way led to the Dahlheimer Mühle with a lake and recreational opportunities on the bank. From there the route led through an underpass of the disused railway embankment, on this route goods were brought from Jülicher to Venlo. We continued on the forest paths and boardwalks over the moor. On the way there were large areas of forest that had been damaged by a storm, the trees were simply broken off at a height of 1.5 to 2 m.
Further along the path we went back to the PP.

A walk to Spielkaulenberg via the colorful garden.
      In comparison the photo montage:
The "beauty" - the spring flowers and the "beast" the trees, or what is left of them. "Life" was "brutal" with them. Despite all the difficulties, they live on and defy their existence.

A walk around the former Lower Rhine barracks.
The way went on the Peter-Nonnenmühlen-Allee to the north cemetery, further across the field to the former Lower Rhine barracks, or otherwise Nicholson baracks. The site has been empty since 2002. Metal thieves have long since gutted the site, and in 2013 strangers put a cell phone station out of action. So far, no interested party has been found who would like to use the site.
On the way to the barracks and on the way back, I captured many beautiful spring-like motifs.

Took a walk in Neuss despite the changeable weather.
Along the donkey path to the Reuschenberger See, on through Holzheimer Heide to the Erprath mill. From there along the Erft to the Obererft, along the north canal to the city forest and the way back along the donkey path.
The weather changed every minute, from blue sky to pitch black, from rain to sleet and snow. Still, it was nice to go for a walk in the capricious weather.

A walk through the forest to Knechtsteden Monastery.
Parked in Straberg and went to the monastery through NSG Knechtstedener Wald.
Knechtsteden Monastery is a former Premonstratensian abbey from the early 12th century, which has been in the possession of the Spiritan Order since 1895.
The monastery complex consists of an area from which the gatehouse and the monastery basilica of St. Andrew protrude. The Catholic Norbert grammar school and a restaurant are also located on the monastery grounds.
About 20 Spiritans currently live in the monastery, they perform pastoral tasks in the region. The formation of missionaries takes place in the formation workshops of the congregation on an international level.
The further path went through the forest and cross-country back to Straberg to the car.
