The pillars of the "Aachen Acropolis" are in the park on the Lousberg. They are a relic of the Belvedere society house, which was destroyed in World War II. In 1807, the park on the Lousberg was the first public park in Europe designed by citizens and not by princes. Maximilian Friedrich Weyhe was significantly involved in the design of this landscape park and implemented the idea of a "dramatic choreography" here: various architectural elements are connected to one another in a variety of ways to form a landscape park.

The square with the rows of columns is reminiscent of the former Belvedere restaurant, which has existed since 1810. A second building was built after the fire of 1836. This was again destroyed in 1944 during World War II, the rows of columns are still a relic of it.
