Hiking

The Chapel of St. Benedict is a chapel with a moving story, literally. Chapel was built in 1888, located on the corner with Kleine Hinckstraat. Until World War II, the chapel stood across the street 100 yards away toward Wintam. In 1940 the chapel was demolished for the construction of an airfield by the Germans and was rebuilt on this site on the grounds of the d'Ursel family and dedicated to Our Lady of Banneux.

At Christmas time - which according to the old liturgical calendar runs until February 2nd - a simple but dignified nativity scene is presented in the back niche in place of the figure of the Virgin Mary that would otherwise be there: only the Holy Family with the baby Jesus lying in the manger, as well as Mary and Joseph . Both have a hand on their heart.
