After the complete destruction of Ettlingen by the French in the Palatinate War of Succession in 1689, the town hall was completed in 1738. Built in baroque style from red sandstone typical of the region, the building is one of the most striking architectural features of the city center. The Ettlinger coat of arms on the balcony, the Baden coat of arms, the sculpture of St. George and the figure of Justitia on the gable crown follow from bottom to top in the central axis.

The town hall forms the historic core of Ettlingen. Located directly on the Alb, it is only a few steps to the castle, the church of St. Martin and the pedestrian zone. Nice cafés and restaurants in vaulted cellars are right on the square.
