This section spares you the really unattractive transit of Merzhausen with its ultra-pseudo pseudo cycle path or the Hexental road, which is in an awkward state, including the felt two dozen (actually 8 at not quite 1500 meters) traffic lights on the adjoining Merzhauser road in Freiburg. The branch line leads through residential buildings, a bit of caution at the right-to-left intersections, and along Lorettoberg - low traffic, even with nice views over the rooftops of Freiburg. In the district Wiehre you can easily get to the Dreisamufer bike path or in the city center.
