On the morning of March 19, 1970, more than 2,000 GDR citizens were crowded in front of the "Erfurter Hof" hotel in the center of the district town in Thuringia. They simply pushed the People's Police aside and shouted: "Willy, Willy!" or "Ha-ho-he, Brandt is o.k." Then more and more join in the call that will make history: "Willy Brandt to the window, Willy Brandt to the window!"
