Zehntstein am Burgenweg

In ancient documents is often reported by the large and the small tithe. Minit or tenth included hay, fruit, cabbage, beets, flax, and the like, but also the living tithes, e.g. "Raised cattle" and the fifteen. The Great Tithe, also called Fruchtzehnt, comprised the tenth of all fruit that grows on stalks. A tithing, was a kind of landmark, usually marked with coats of arms. They indicated the burden of a property by the respective tithing. Predominantly there were tithing stones in areas or localities in which different tithe rulers had rights. The stones were set by the so-called subcontractors, which ensured their location. Usually came for the respective tens of letters to the stones. Since exactly here the sphere of influence of the margrave of Bayreuth ended and that of the Bishopric of Bamberg began, the tithing was probably also a landmark.
