    Old Fish Market

This is where the tourism information office is located!

The Oude Vismijn is located at the confluence of the Lieve and the Leie. Fishmongers sold their wares here from the late Middle Ages until the 1960s. It is one of the oldest markets in Ghent, which was originally located on the Groentenmarkt but found its new place at the Sint-Veerleplein at the end of the 17th century.

Opposite the Castle of the Counts you will find the monumental gateway to the Oude Vismijn. Neptune keeps an eye on the Scheldt (man) and the Lys (woman).

The information office of Visit Gent has, among other things, been housed in the completely renovated complex. You can go here for all possible information!

On the Sint-Veerleplein opposite the Gravensteen you will find the monumental gateway to the Oude Vismijn. Neptune keeps an eye on the Scheldt (man) and the Lys (woman).

You can now find the Pop-up Summer Bar Riviera here. Cozy stay by the water. Reservation is not possible. Full is full.

The facade is decorated in Rococo style with 2 life-size statues by A. Pauli, representing the Lys and the Scheldt respectively. Above the pediment in which the coat of arms of Ghent adorns, the sea god Neptune, a work of art by Guy Helderberg, is displayed.
