In 2021, a completely new district will be created in the middle of the Rabot neighborhood of Ghent: the Tondelierwijk. There was once a gas factory here in 1881. Today, two monumental gas holders still remind us of this past.
The two Ghent icons were restored in 2020 and are part of the new neighborhood park. The Industry Museum brings the story of the gasholders to life with information panels, viewers and the Heritage app. The museum stores the collection of the former Gas Museum in Leuven and illustrates the history of gas production, gas distribution and the use of gas in industry and in the home with all kinds of objects, photos and stories.
