It was not until thirty years later that the building, the work of the architect Louis-Michel Boltz of Belfortain, opened its doors to the publishk (the theater was inaugurated on March 8, 1849).
Faced with the growth of the city's population, the theater was enlarged in 1902, new stage machines were built.
The theater was again renovated between July 1999 and November 2000 .
