The redesign of the Square de la Montagne Verte and the Place du 2 Février in the old town of Colmar in Alsace has given the city a new green lung. The 24 steel arches are connected with wire ropes from Jakob Rope Systems, which serve as climbing aids for plants and thus provide shade.The overgrown ropes form a leafy corridor resembling a cloister, reflecting the history of the former Franciscan monastery that existed on the site. Like the medieval cloisters, the greenery provides a quiet space popular with residents and tourists in the often-busy inner city.

The old hospital was built in the period 1902 - 1904. The complex was expanded in 1984 with a care unit for the elderly. In 2000 it was renamed Maison Saint-Jacques. The beautiful forecourt (front yard) is an oasis of tranquility. Benches in alcoves provide some privacy and shade. Definitely a location to relax

Square is part of the front yard of the old hospital. Among the locals of Colmar, this location is better known as 'De Groene Berg'.
The park, in its present form, was developed in 1975. It houses many species of trees, including a Japanese Sophora, of which 18 were planted. The dense foliage of the large trees makes it a park appreciated by passers-by looking for a little freshness in summer. Of a moment of relaxation at a distance from the Place de l'Ancienne.
