PARC DU CHAMP DE MARS, Colmar

"Green area" in the city center, the park of the "Champ de Mars" is a privileged place for walks, lined with 193 lime trees. As you wander through the avenues, don't miss the two statues by Bartholdi: the "General Rapp" and the "Bruat Fountain".

Since the mid-18th century, part of this square in the southwest of the city had been a public promenade. In 1793, the city transformed this area into a military training ground and festival site, renamed the Champ de Mars. In the 19th century, this amusement park took on its present form, with its wide paths designed to resemble the Cross of the Legion of Honor. In 1856, Auguste Bartholdi erected a statue of General Rapp on the northern square, which was henceforth named after the Colmar hero. In 1864, he then erected the Admiral Bruat fountain in the center of the park.

        See and be seen.

Lie on one of the many grass areas and stare at the clouds.

Perfect location to press the pause button.

        Enjoy your moment.
