"In 2017, Rösberg celebrated its 950th anniversary. The town was first mentioned in a document in 1067. Rösberg lies on the upper eastern edge of the foothills once formed by the Rhine. People have settled in this area for thousands of years. Initially, the Romans built their forts to secure the Rhine border, on whose remains a castle and church were built in the following centuries. During this period, settlements often arose along important trade and military routes or safe water sources. In Rösberg, the routes from Cologne to Trier and from Bonn to Aachen crossed. Springs emerged in the Nonnholz wood, which supplied important mills on the Mühlenbach stream. Until the 1970s, the spring pond supplied the water tower with water.

Ownership and power relations determined the lives of the people in the settlements until modern times. Rösberg, like all other small towns, was owned by the church and the princes. Only with secularization and the abolition of the Aristocratic privileges gave people more freedom. In Rösberg, the former baroque palace, in particular, is a reminder of the bygone feudal era. The water tower, on the other hand, represents modernity. It went into operation in 1920 and supplied the Rösberg population with drinking water until the 1970s. The tower is privately owned, has been a listed building since 1986, and was converted into a residential building in the 1990s.
