For anyone who wants to hike to the Neubau refuge with small children, I took lots of photos of the trail. Everything was manageable with our kids (6 and 9). We had to cross a few streams. We spent the night there. But it's also easily doable in a day. We liked the Neubau refuge.

Cool hike with a few obstacles. A bridge is missing on the way there when crossing the river/stream. We had to jump down the embankment there. The way there is generally difficult to walk from the stream onwards on the ascent, as it is overgrown and very rocky.
