The Waldhambacher church was originally a Georgskirche and a branch of Göcklingen. In 1470 the "plebania in Walthanbach" was part of the Herxheim chapter, later it was repeatedly a branch of Eschbach.
Waldhambach has been an independent parish since 1858.
The church probably dates from the early 14th century. The choir and the adjoining sacristy have Gothic rib vaults.
The sacristy door still has late Gothic wrought iron fittings from around 1500.
