Burg Landeck

This extremely well-preserved castle, which is one of the most famous in the Palatinate, lies above Klingenmünster. From the keep you have a sensational view over the entire Rhine plain. Concerts and medieval markets (Landeckfest) take place here, where you can watch all sorts of hustle and bustle. Here, too, a castle tavern with a terrace invites you to enjoy tarte flambée and other dishes.

Starting point of the Three Castles hike:
On the castle path from the castle Landeck above Klingenmünster first to the ruin Schlössel. Continue up to the Ringwall Heidenschuh. Then to the Martinsturm, with a good view far over the Palatinate Forest, before it goes down to the White Rock, a nice rest area. Then back to the starting point for Burg Landeck.

The castle Landeck above Klingenmünster was built around 1200. Since 1881, the Landeck Association operates the elaborate restoration measures. The castle Landeck is today a popular destination. The Burgschänke is open all year. From the castle courtyard, there is an impressive view of Klingenmünster and the Wingert landscape up to the Rhine plain. On the grounds of the castle ruins Landeck medieval markets are held annually under the name "Landeckfest".

Here you can stop off, enjoy the medieval atmosphere and the fantastic view from the terrace.

Great atmosphere, nice view, good Palatine food as well as classics and daily specials, delicious cakes and tarte flambée from the separate bakery, enough shady spots but also a lot in the sun. Everywhere interesting corners to discover, with a free small museum on the ascent to the lookout tower ... one of our favorite castles in the Palatinate Forest 😊

The castle is worth a visit! There is a great view of the area and especially of Klingenmünster. The courtyard is managed.

Despite the heat and despite the height to be overcome, the hike was very pleasant. The initially steep ascent in Münchweiler was in the shade and was not felt as exhausting. The whole route is under high beech and oak forests and was wonderful to hike. The intermediate goal Burg Landeck rewarded even more by a magnificent view. You can benefit from the food offer in the shade of large linden trees.

Very nice castle complex. There is also a small restaurant inside and outside very nice. Magnificent views from the terrace and from the tower. Very interesting events in the castle courtyard in summer.

At the moment in times of Corona: entrance and exit separated. Disinfection of hands at the entrance is controlled.
Lots of space in the courtyard. The benches and tables are not too narrow. Good selection of drinks and food. We ate schnitzel (nice and crispy), liver dumplings (fine) and tarte flambée (large and well topped). Everyone liked it.
Recommendable.

In the castle you can eat or drink something on the wooden benches directly in the castle courtyard.

For a small donation, you can even hike up the keep, which houses some exhibits.

When the weather is nice, the view stretches across the Rhine plain to the Black Forest.

A still well-preserved and always well-kept castle complex. Where you can also stop for a spritzer. Easy to reach - parking spaces are available. Good starting point for hikes.
