Hiking Highlight

Of the 16 bicycle and pedestrian ferries in Flanders, 2 are located on the Leie in Drongen. This is because there is no fixed connection of the banks of the Lys from the Europa Bridge in Ghent to the Leie Bridge in Bacht-Maria-Leerne.
The landing stage of one of these ferry services is located along the Dijkweg in Afsnee near the Sint-Jan-de-Doper church, which is located on the right bank.
Incidentally, a crossing is more than worthwhile, because not only the church of Afsnee, but also the presbytery and the village view are gems that have been protected as monuments. Further on in the direction of Sint-Denijs-Westrem and Sint-Martens-Latem, there are countless hiking and cycling opportunities.
