This is actually the place where the Leie splits into two branches. The southern branch flows via Afsnee church towards Ghent. The northern branch of the Leie that flows from the 'Drie Leien' along the town square and the abbey of Drongen is not usable for shipping. In the east, the district is bordered by an Old Leie arm, which formed the border between the former municipalities of Drongen and Afsnee until 1977.
