Beautiful and popular square between the Triton fountain, the Steigenberger Parkhotel and the south exit of the Hofgarten, centrally located in Düsseldorf. Designed as an imperial splendor square, it has been adorned since 1882 with a neo-baroque bowl fountain by Leo Müsch. The square is named after Peter von Cornelius, the first director of the Düsseldorf Art Academy, whose monument stands in the Hofgarten and which forms the focal point of the Corneliusplatz's line of sight to the north. After the major construction site that lasted almost a decade from 2007, the square is now free of construction sites again and can be strolled.

In this area of Königsallee, instead of the city moat, there is Corneliusplatz, which is a green area with the so-called Schalenbrunnen. In winter, an ice rink is set up here. The square is named after Peter von Cornelius, the first director of the Düsseldorf Art Academy, whose monument stands in the Hofgarten.
