Unfortunately, we were only able to take a look inside, as the dome, like the other greenhouses, is currently still closed due to Corona. But right at the front there was a wonderful display of flowers. We will be back soon to take a look into the depths of the dome.

The dome is a greenhouse and can be visited all year round. A nice side note: There are also visitor toilets in the dome, and sometimes it is quite nice when you are on tour and urgently need a toilet. Then you can combine business with pleasure and take a look at the plants in peace.

Hiking
The landmark of the botanical garden is an 18-meter-high, filigree geodesic dome, in whose Mediterranean climate plants from the Canary Islands, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and California are shown. The dome is complemented by a new, modern greenhouse complex with a South African house, a 13-meter-high orangery and a house for the other plant collections.
Geodesic domes are constructions of spherical domes with a grid shell made of triangles.
The term geodesic alludes to geodesy, in which the division into triangles is also essential.
