As early as 1484 a "slyffkotten" of Johan Broch zu Schnittert (Snytert) was mentioned in a tax list of the "Ambtes Solingen", who was in the household of Schnittert. [HStA Düsseldorf, Jülich-Berg I 1343 Bl. 20]. Willi Herwig, who annotated the difficult to understand wording, does not rule out that this is Brucher Kotten (or his early predecessor).
