For many years, the Lochbach was forced into a narrow, open-top concrete pipe. It was a really sad sight. The renaturation took several years, but the effort was worth it. The Lochbachtal is a beautiful recreational area in the middle of Solingen.

The development of Solingen extends largely on the hills; in between you can hike for hours through rural creek valleys, where in better times there were many pubs. Unfortunately, their management was increasingly discontinued or significantly reduced. The Lochbachtal is also recommended as a hiking area because it represents an idyll in this densely populated area between the districts of Ohligs and Wald.
