The Maximilianeum in Munich's Haidhausen district has been the seat of the Bavarian state parliament since 1949 and is also a beautiful vantage point over the city.

One of the most prominent buildings in the city. Aptly, the Munich Wiki says: "The building is a pathetic backdrop architecture with a great long-distance effect on the eastern high bank of the Isar in the line of sight of Maximilianstrasse on the other side of the Maximiliansbrücke."
The foundation stone was laid in 1857 - 17 years later construction was completed. From the Isar side, the numerous modern additions to the east to expand the premises of the state parliament cannot be made out - you have to go behind the splendid facade to do this.
