Pretty little cemetery with lots of old family graves, mature trees, beehives and a sad area for star children. The cemetery offers enough benches to always find a place of rest.

In 1908 this cemetery was built on the so-called Hunger Hill in an area that had been characterized by heathland. One does not really notice the symmetrical form of investment when strolling through the narrow paths. A very nice cemetery.

Hiking

On August 22, 1908, the Ev.-Luth, which had just become independent, decided. The parish of Groß Flottbek purchased the area, which was then characterized by heathland, on the second highest elevation in the Elbe suburbs, the so-called “Hungerhügel”. The predominantly sandy soil was very suitable for cemetery purposes.

The historical basic structure from 1909 by the local horticultural engineer Christian Brügmann, who designed the cemetery grounds, has been retained to this day. A regular orthogonal network of paths in the main part is complemented by strictly shaped hedges in the shape of an ellipse.
