The neo-baroque gate system on the Elbchaussee was built in 1906 on the occasion of a visit by Emperor Wilhelm II and was connected to the old path network with an elegantly curved driveway.

In 1785, Caspar Voght was content with a simple gate to Süderpark. A good 40 years later, Senator Martin Johan Jenisch built a pretty English cottage next to the gate on Holztwiete. In 1906, the imperial envoy Martin Rücker Jenisch had a larger park keeper's house built in the style of the time next to the new imperial gate on the Elbchaussee. The pan-roofed house in Swiss style is richly furnished with loggias, gables and dormers, half-timbering and decorative boards.

The first family of gatekeepers opened the gate to some distinguished guests. The guests stayed in the luxurious Park Hotel on the other side of the Elbchaussee and drove on the new road across the park to the Jenisch House. Visits by Chancellor von Bülow, who is related to Jenisch, and Emperor Wilhelm II are recorded.
