On mild summer days, the large meadow becomes a meeting point for young and old, for families and friends, for children, young people, adults and seniors. There is laughter, barbecue and games. But a visit is also worthwhile at other times of the year.The 60,000 square meter meadow is part of the first prepared part of the Altonaer Volkspark, which was completed in 1915. Two parallel paths and a border of linden trees protectively frame this clearing. In the otherwise very wooded park area, this wide area looks like an island in the forest park. Here you can enjoy the widest view in the entire park along the longest line of sight at 315 meters - and the path around it is a popular jogging route.While in winter it is mainly walkers and dog owners who use the central meadow area, the first rays of sunshine invite park guests to linger and relax. At Easter time, the meadow turns into a field of yellow daffodils and offers a picturesque sight. With the start of the barbecue season, sun-seekers are drawn here; Parents enjoy sunbathing, children romp on the playground and some people only come here to enjoy the scenic idyll. In autumn, the surrounding forest area shows itself in a colorful autumn dress.
