The installation is the translation of a play on words: “To go for a walk” means “kuieren” in Dutch, which contains the word “Uier” (= udder). Then as now, the black and white spotted cows are characteristic of the landscape in Flanders.
The udders are memorials for the new cultural techniques introduced in agriculture by the new settlers. The 4 teats of each udder represent the close interrelationship that the four "elements" udder, cow, nature and humans have with one another. The different udder spots represent the individuality of humans and nature.

Along the trail, you'll see several more works of art, such as the wolves and the resting bridge. Very amusing, because everyone can have their own opinion about art.
