This building wasn't always a church. It's the Rumford gypsum burning plant from 1877, the successor to the old gypsum kiln from 1819. After the end of industrial gypsum mining in 1922/23, this building was converted into apartments in 1926.
I haven't yet found out when the independent Protestant Matthäus congregation started using this building for church services.
