The museum is open daily (including Mondays) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission for adults costs 7 €, a combination ticket with the water tower also 7 €!

Here you can learn a great deal about the source of Lüneburg's wealth in the Middle Ages and during the heyday of the Hanseatic League. Later, with the decline of the Hanseatic League and the competition from sea salt, Lüneburg became impoverished. The saltworks operated until 1980 and were shut down due to unprofitability. Damage in the subsidence area and a shift in thinking regarding the preservation of old buildings also contributed to its demise. However, salt is still produced in small quantities. I personally find the small models of old Lüneburg fascinating.
