Myllendonk Castle

The medieval moated castle of Myllendonk was built on stilts in the floodplains of the Niers. You can stop off in the gastronomy of the local golf club (with a beautiful outdoor terrace).

Baroness Therese von Wüllenweber was born on February 19, 1833 at Myllendonk Castle as the daughter of Theodor von Wüllenweber. She is the founder of the Salvatorian Sisters and became their Superior General. She is known as Mother Mary of the Apostles.

The von Myllendonk gentlemen, who have been traceable since 1166, held an important position among the noble families of the Lower Rhine, which was manifested in extensive possessions. The most famous son of the family is the Benedictine Abbot and later Cistercian monk Caesarius von Milendonk.
