In the middle of the forest above Mistendorf stands the Steinknock pilgrimage chapel.
March 16, 2017
The pilgrimage site Steinknock above Mistendorf has existed for over 350 years. The Steinknock Chapel, which was built in 1894, is located here.
A host find on the Steinknock has been reported from generation to generation in the Zeegenbach valley for centuries. It was not until 1930 that the pastor and local history researcher Martin Förtsch found the exact records of the circumstances of the discovery of the host on the Steinknock in the Bamberg State Archives.
Every year on the last Sunday in June and at the time of the birth of Mary, there is a great sacrament procession from the Mistendorfer parish church to the pilgrimage chapel on the Steinknock.
