sun-alpacas.deThe history of Feuerstein Castle goes back to 1941: Prof. Oskar Vierling had the castle built as a private research laboratory on the hill near Ebermannstadt in the middle of World War II. Research and development was carried out for the Wehrmacht in the field of communications and high frequency technology. The building was used as a laboratory until 1945 and was initially empty for a short time after the war. In 1946 it was leased by the Archdiocese of Bamberg and then bought by Oskar Vierling in 1949, along with 120 hectares of land, and converted into a youth education center.Over the years "the castle" received numerous building extensions. Agriculture was grown and in 1961 the church was built.Feuerstein Castle is today the central youth education center of the Archdiocese of Bamberg with its own educational and thelogical offer. Around 35,000 overnight stays and more than 40,000 catering days are recorded every year.
